Cp Abutu Yaro, Edo State Police commissioner has ordered the arrested and detention of four operatives of the police command for their allegedly involvement in the killing of a Vigilante member in state capital Benin City.
The 27 years old aikpitanyi, a member of the local Vigilante group at obaze street,off ewah Road in Benin, was allegedly shot to death on Friday night by the one of the operatives for allegedly preventing a woman, Rose Sunday, from dumping refuse in a moat in the neighborhood.
The arrested officers are inspt. Igere Victor, Sgt. Umhenin Stanley, Sgt. Okongor Ojong and Cpl. Monday Joel while the arrested couple was identified as Mr. And Mrs. Sunday Egboh.
A statement by the Edo police command spokesperson, Sp. Kontongs Bello, noted that Cp Yaro Recieved the news with heart shock and described the actions of the officers as unacceptable and in professional.
He said the command under his watch will not condone acts of misconduct that are inimical to the peace and safety of law abiding citizens of Edo State and Nation.
